About Bonas Labs
Bonas Labs was founded by bicycle industry veteran turned-professional-tinkerer Jonas Mikolayunas. Jonas has been serving others through bicycles since he began riding his little blue bike in the Maine woods in the early 80’s.
Initiated at the Barnett’s Bicycle Institute, he went on to establish industry-leading technical support programs for e*thirteen components and Evil Bikes during their original East Coast years.
While working at a Boston area bicycle shop that assembles a high volume of bicycles annually, Jonas noticed the assembly crew would come back from their bed-in rides sweaty and sucking wind. The unpredictable weather meant that bikes that didn’t get bedded during assembly, needed a tag saying as much and were hauled off to another store location – presenting a logistical nightmare.
Jonas scooped up a discarded treadmill in a neighbor’s free-pile and went to work.
Since then, he has gained expertise in suspension tuning… and then woodworking… welders… lathes… cnc… tribology… and here we are.
Disc-o-matic.
Obsessed with the efficiency of anything in motion Jonas still wears lycra when hammering his uber-svelte down-country bike.
Because it’s faster.
